WHAT IS SDMyLife?
SDMyLife has been assisting students with navigating the career development process since 2008. With the support of teachers, counselors, and parents, SDMyLife's goal is to help students better understand themselves and how their interest, skills, and knowledge relate to real-world academic and career opportunities.
SDMyLife is powered by an online career exploration and academic planning program, called Xello. South Dakota students use SDMyLife powered by Xello to explore, research, and plan for their life after high school.
SDMyLife is brought to the students of South Dakota by the South Dakota Department of Education.
WHAT IS XELLO?
Xello is software that helps students in grades 6–12 create their very own, unique roadmap for future success—enabling them to discover their own personalized pathway through self-knowledge, exploration, and planning.
Students can take interest and ability assessments to find careers that align with their interests and skills. They can explore by career cluster, keyword, or school subject. Students can also research postsecondary education and training options, build a portfolio, study for the ACT, and learn about financial aid.
As students progress through high school, they can create a personal learning plan that maps the courses they will take throughout high school. They can also save assessment scores, log career planning activities and extracurricular involvement, and even build a resume!
