Nineteen high school graduates from across South Dakota will receive the Robert C. Byrd Honors Scholarship for the 2010-11 academic year.
The Robert C. Byrd Honors Scholarship is a federally supported program that recognizes high school seniors who show promise of continued excellence in postsecondary education. Applicants must have a GPA of at least 3.5 on an unweighted 4.0 scale, an ACT score of 30 or above, and have applied or been accepted as a full-time student at an eligible in-state or out-of-state institution.
If funds are available, the $1,500 per year scholarship is renewable for the first four years of study at an eligible institution if the recipient continues to meet the eligibility criteria.
