6th Grade Implementation
This recording will highlight how student receive SDMyLife access, how to find your 6th grade students access information and the differences between a 6th grade account and 7th and 8th grade students' SDMyLife account.

SDMyLife Parent Involvment
Each student account has parent login information available. This session will demonstrate how to access the parent login information and provide ideas for distributing it to parents. Learn how to use students' use of SDMyLife as another means to engaging parents in their child's college and career readiness. Bring along best practices and ideas to network with others about generating parent support and enthusiasm for their child’s work in SDMyLife.
SDMyLife Portfolio Admin Account
Participants will learn how to navigate features of the SDMyLife administrator account. Learn how to gather your districts’ SDMyLife data. Use and share this data to adapt courses to students’ interests and skills. Create a plan to incorporate SDMyLife in different classrooms.
SDMyLife Junior/ Senior Focus
Participants will learn to navigate and incorporate the features of SDMyLife that are best suited to upper level students. Details on ACT test prep, finding a college, and the financial aid selector will be included in this hands-on session, as well as lesson plans, instructional strategies, and implementation ideas for high school counselors and teachers.
SDMyLife - Using ACT Method Test Prep
This session will explore how to implement Method Test Prep and use reporting features to identify concepts that your students need improvement on as well as identify concepts where your students excel. We will also discuss best practices for to use MTP at your school.
SDMyLife Middle School Focus
Participants will learn to navigate and incorporate the features of SDMyLife that are best suited to Middle School students. Included in this hands-on session will be the basics of accessing and utilizing middle school specific SDMyLife content, as well as lesson plans, instructional strategies and implementation ideas for middle school counselors, teachers, and career exploration classes.
SDMyLife Network - Connecting Students to the Workforce
To help students identify their career path, transition successfully into post-secondary education and careers, and prepare to be productive citizens of the community, it is important for them to understand what the workforce demands. And who better knows the needs of employers than the employers themselves? You will learn how to leverage the expertise of employers to provide your students the information, advice, and encouragement they need. We will demonstrate how you can implement activities in the classroom to facilitate discussion forums between your students and career coaches in their careers of interest.
SDMyLife – Mass Customized Learning
Find out ways to incorporate SDMyLife work at your school. We encourage you to come in teams of 2-3 individuals. Learn how SDMyLife is personalized for each student and create a plan to how SDMyLife can be incorporated in different classrooms and become a shared responsibility. For example, one teacher can facilitate the Career Matchmaker and another can start Personal Learning Plans. Take away some plans and activities as well as network and share your plans and ideas with other SDMyLife educators.
SD Virtual School & Remediation
This session will detail a new program being offered through the South Dakota Virtual School which provides students an opportunity to complete remedial coursework prior to entering a postsecondary institution. Upon successful completion of the coursework and corresponding assessment, students can bypass postsecondary remedial courses and enter directly into credit-bearing, college level courses.
Work Based Learning
Capstone experiences allow students the opportunity to consolidate and apply the learning from their high school coursework into a meaningful and relevant career-related experience. These experiences include Entrepreneurship Experience, Senior Experience, Service Learning and Youth Internship. Learn about opportunities that await your school, strategies for implementation, and resources to get started.
Teachers as Advisors
Participants will learn the components and implementation process for a Teachers as Advisors program in middle and high schools. Topics include: structure, planning, staff training, ongoing coordination, roles and responsibilities, student groups, needs assessments and curriculum. Participants may use this session to receive Continuing Education Hours.
SD Comprehensive School Counseling Model
This session will walk participants through the updated Comprehensive Counseling Model. Discover how to evaluate your current program and take steps toward a high quality comprehensive counseling plan. See examples from the National Comprehensive Counseling Model and network with other counselors throughout the state.
